Penetration by Botryosphaeriaceae species in avocado, guava and persimmon fruit during postharvest

چکیده
Abstract Botryosphaeriaceae species have a wide host range and worldwide distribution. These fungal can colonize several plant organs, such as the trunk, leaves fruit. Some cause important diseases on persimmon, avocado guava However, there is lack of information regarding mechanisms penetration by these tropical subtropical fruits. This study aimed to better understand involved in penetration, specificity aggressiveness Botryosphaeria dothidea, Lasiodiplodia pseudotheobromae Neofusicoccum parvum ( Persea americana ), Psidium guajava ) persimmon Diospyros kaki Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image analysis showed that fruit, three studied penetrated through lenticels. In stomata was verified for dothidea . an appressoria‐like structure observed B , which suggests direct penetration. Disease incidence wounded fruit 24% higher than non‐wounded L N differences The longest incubation period inoculated guava, with average 4.5 days, shortest avocado, 2.8 days. area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) did not differ between whereas AUDPC lower B. improve postharvest control strategies.

Isolation and Expression of NAC Genes during Persimmon Fruit Postharvest Astringency Removal
NAC genes have been characterized in numerous plants, where they are involved in responses to biotic and abiotic stress, including low oxygen stress. High concentration of CO2 is one of the most effective treatments to remove astringency of persimmon fruit owing to the action of the accumulated anoxia metabolite acetaldehyde. In model plants, NAC genes have been identified as being responsive t...
متن کاملAnalysis of Xyloglucan Endotransglycosylase/Hydrolase (XTH) Genes and Diverse Roles of Isoenzymes during Persimmon Fruit Development and Postharvest Softening
Xyloglucan endotransglycosylase/hydrolase (XTH) enzymes have played a role in the remodeling of cell wall hemicelluloses. To investigate the function of XTHs in persimmon (Diospyros kaki L.) fruit development and postharvest softening, five cDNAs (DkXTH1 to DkXTH5), whose putative proteins contained the conserved DEIDFEFLG motif of XTH, were cloned. Real time quantitative PCR analysis revealed ...
متن کاملInvolvement of DkTGA1 Transcription Factor in Anaerobic Response Leading to Persimmon Fruit Postharvest De-Astringency
Persimmon fruit are unique in accumulating proanthocyanidins (tannins) during development, which cause astringency in mature fruit. In 'Mopanshi' persimmon, astringency can be removed by treatment with 95% CO2, which increases the concentrations of ethanol and acetaldehyde by glycolysis, and precipitates the soluble tannin. A TGA transcription factor, DkTGA1, belonging to the bZIP super family,...
متن کاملUltrastructure and Cytology of the Postharvest Avocado (Persea americana Mill) Fruit
Basic postharvest work on 'Fuerte' avocado fruit cell wall anatomy and ultrastructure was carried out from fruit harvest to postclimacteric stage. Mesocarp samples were analyzed with light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Irregularity of the cell wall increased, microfibrils became disorganized, and some dissolution of the middle lamella was observe...
متن کاملCytokinin Activity in Avocado Seeds during Fruit Development.
The soybean callus bioassay was used to determine levels of cytokinin activity in avocado (Persea americana) seeds. In the embryo, levels are high during the early stages of development, but diminish as the fruit grows. The level of cytokinin activity in the endosperm is very high throughout the period that this tissue exists. The seed coats have very high activity levels while the fruit is youn...
